Cotton Mills houses

The three Cotton Mills houses on principal street.

Queen Anne revival architecture

The most common architectural characteristic of this style is an asymmetrical floor plan, covered by an irregular roof.

The gables often end in a large triangular pediment. Towers, wide verandas and porches often frame the main part of the building.

This refined ornamentation, the asymmetrical shapes, and protruding elements characterize the neo-Queen Anne style, whose expansion was interrupted by World War I.

New vocation

As the current owners of this meticulously maintained home have done, many local property owners have given new vocations to their magnificent old houses by welcoming visitors.

Several bed-and-breakfast establishments are located on des Pins, Abbott, Merry, Hatley, and Bellevue streets.
