Langdon Street Bridge

Today, the heavy, humble trusses of the Langdon Street bridge are made ethereal by strings of colorful twinkling lights. As the heart of Montpelier’s vibrant restaurant and bar scene, the Langdon Street bridge is now a beacon, welcoming visitors and residents to enjoy all that Montpelier has to offer. It often serves as a stage for festivals and concerts downtown.

Walk along to the end of the bridge to find this flood marker. It identifies the levels of each flood event in Montpelier.

Before leaving Langdon Street, look back again at the Rialto bridge. Its lighting design was intended to capture the unique history of this place. Wash lights have been angled downward, not to illuminate the aging balustrade, but to light the space beneath the bridge. Reflections in the water remind us of the inextricable connection between Montpelier's built environment and the natural world.
