L'Anse-Saint-Jean

A magnificent and harmonious landscape

L'Anse-Saint-Jean showcases its charms around a covered bridge nestled between the cliffs of Saguenay Park, where one can admire a grand and harmonious landscape. It was there in 1668 that Father Beaulieu, wintering with the indigenous people, built the first chapel.

L'Anse-Saint-Jean

There are several summer and winter activities to enjoy, such as alpine skiing at Mont Édouard, hiking, snowshoeing, horseback riding, dog sledding, and cruises.

Must-Sees

The village offers numerous lookouts, a marina, sea kayaking, short and long hiking and horseback riding trails, and in October, a painting symposium. Besides the hikes to the Anse à la Tabatière lookout, the lookouts at the Grande Chute and Montagne Blanche also offer magnificent views.

The Anse de Tabatière lookout in Saguenay National Park provides a spectacular view of the fjord.

Between 1954 and 1992, the landscape of L'Anse-Saint-Jean was featured on the Canadian $1,000 bills. These $1,000 bills are no longer available today.
