Port-au-Persil (Saint-Siméon)

Named in the 17th century by Champlain

Port-au-Persil is a hamlet located within the municipality of Saint-Siméon. This locality currently has about a hundred inhabitants.

Port-au-Persil, named in the 17th century by Champlain, is situated at the end of a small bay along the Saint Lawrence River. The locality was founded by Neil McLaren, a Scottish immigrant, at the end of the 19th century. It was his son who built the white wooden chapel there in 1893. It still stands by the water.

You can walk on the rocks, from the small dock to the chapel (private, but accessible).
