Villa Arts and Crafts

6 avenue Carter

The Arts et Métiers style reproduces the rustic pastiche style in order to bring the romantic rural landscape into the city. The presence of vegetation adds to the style's rustic harmony. This villa, dating from 1936, symbolically mimics farm buildings, in the manner of the American architect Richardson.

Note the presence of faux-mansard roof on this property, which gives the impression of being pierced on either side by large dormer windows. The presence of surface-mounted shutters and the brick chimney on the side of the house, which hints at the location of the fireplace inside, add to its charm. The left side of the villa features a veranda topped by a balcony.

Historical Significance

This building has significant heritage value due to its representative and well-executed style, as well as its excellent historical value.

The Gallery

At the front of the villa, a gallery with a parapet adds an interesting dimension to the house. The parapet is formed by the gallery's railing, which consists of a half-wall at waist height to prevent falls.
