Built in 1923-1924, these two buildings are the oldest structures in Rouyn. Originally a family residence and general store, then a post office, these buildings, built back-to-back, face the Noranda Mines Limited camp. The Dumulon family lived there until the 1970s and played an important role in Rouyn's history.
The current buildings are a faithful reconstruction of the originals, completed in 1979. Designated a historical site in 1980, the complex clearly illustrates Rouyn's periods of development. The buildings demonstrate the simplicity of early construction in the 20th-century mining camps. Their location near the lake and the mine indicates the importance of these sites in the early days of the twin cities. The presence of an archaeological site also testifies to the early Indigenous and Euro-Quebecois settlements of the 20th century.

Although simple in construction, a great deal of work went into building these structures. These single-story buildings with gabled roofs are both rectangular in plan and built with a framework of cypress and spruce logs.
