Hello!
You are now standing right next to the office I used to occupy as mayor of the beautiful municipality of Saint-Luc-de-Vincennes. But I’m getting ahead of myself. Let’s start at my very beginnings…
I was born in 1921 on our family farm, right here in Saint-Luc. I was the first boy in a big family so at a very young age, I had to roll up my sleeves and help my farming father. As many boys my age, I worked at lumber camps to make ends meet and, more importantly, to raise enough money to buy my own land. It was the beginning of a great adventure!
In 1950, I married the love of my life, Marie-Jeanne Masson, mother of my three children and faithful partner, in business as well as in all of our projects. What a great team we were! First, we managed a dairy farm, then we moved on to strawberries. We were known across the canton for our little summer beauties. We also developed an industry specialized in swine maternity with our children, as they grew older. Besides, our Denis took over our family business. Three generations of farmers, that was something to be proud of!
But I wasn’t going to daydream throughout the rest of my retirement. If you think I could, you don’t know me very well! So I got socially involved in my community and wore more than one hat: Agricultural Cooperative Director, municipal councillor, churchwarden, Credit union President and Director, chairman at the CLSC des Chenaux and, as I said earlier, mayor for 11 years. As a mayor, I helped bring drinking water to all my citizens and founded the Saint-Luc-de-Vincennes History Society, so dear to my heart.
It was important for me to get involved and join the pioneers and visionaries who made this town what it is today. But I guess you already figured that out! I look forward to seeing you again!
