A meeting place of choice for its inhabitants, this very lively location houses several shops, such as restaurants and cafés.
Periodically, there are also flowers, fruits and vegetable markets under the shades of the magnificent plane trees on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday mornings.
At the beginning
Place Carnot was originally more imposing than it is now. About 700 years ago, it extended to the Verdun, de l'Aigle d'or and Pinel streets. In other words, there were no southern, northern, or eastern buildings at the time.
In 1355, the Black Prince's army (Prince of Wales of England) looted and set the Bastide on fire. Nothing remained standing, and the reconstruction of the place was later undertaken in its current area.
