Ville-Marie possesses a wild, even exotic beauty. The majestic Lake Témiscamingue plays a significant role: it runs along the entire western axis of the municipality, creating a festive, musical, luminous, multicolored, and sometimes even ghostly atmosphere every day!

Ville-Marie is a gem set on the edge of the majestic Lake Témiscamingue, which stretches 110 km long. It should be admired from the Bay of Fathers, by boat, at night, when the city's lights reflect in the water, or from the Mountain of the Cave, where you can see the village surrounded by hills with the vast lake at its feet.

Ville-Marie is considered 'The Most Beautiful Village in Quebec' according to a public vote in a contest organized by the newspaper La Presse.

Founded in 1886, Ville-Marie is the oldest settlement in Abitibi-Témiscamingue. Its name pays tribute to the congregation of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate, who played a crucial role in the colonization of the region. Ville-Marie is the gateway to Abitibi-Témiscamingue. This is where the colonization of the region began.

If you set out to explore Ville-Marie, you'll relive ancient times by visiting, among other places, the Maison du Frère-Moffet, "the oldest surviving house in Abitibi-Témiscamingue," or by visiting the first agricultural school, the Centre Frère Moffet.
