Grandes-Piles

From log driving... to sailing

Grandes-Piles has experienced a revival since the end of log driving on the Saint-Maurice River. The municipality has reclaimed the river and its banks, reopened the waterway, and installed a marina that can accommodate up to 80 sailboats.

The workshops of the Flottage Company have been transformed into a restaurant reputed to have one of the most beautiful terraces in Mauricie, where guests can enjoy a lively setting with boaters chatting as they check their rigging or prepare to set sail, adding their sails to the river's scenery. In this village of just 384 souls, built on the mountainside, the tiered streets are lined with meticulously maintained houses. And Mauricie Park is only a 20-minute drive away.
