In the 1940s, City hall housed the fire department. Following the 1948 fire, a building better suited to the city's needs was constructed. This was followed by the merger of the twin cities, which required a complete renovation of the building.City hall now occupied by administrative offices, while other services (fire, public works, recreation, etc.) have been relocated to other buildings.
Historical Significance
It holds great value due to its historical importance. From the first years of its incorporation, the City of Rouyn-Noranda acquired a building to house its administrative services. This building has undergone significant transformations over the years, and despite these renovations, it remains a source of pride for its citizens.
