Chapter Two: Living in the Light

The second part of a triptych dedicated to light, J'ouvre une fenêtre, j'en ferme d'autres continues the reflection initiated by Valéry Lemay, who also created On a laissé quelques lumières allumées during the 2023 edition of the Sentier culturel.

After exploring light through its sources and everyday objects, the artist is now interested in how it inhabits spaces.

Space and light

Space and light accompany our most ordinary gestures and often reveal themselves through the windows of houses. Sometimes from the inside, opening our view to the landscape, sometimes from the outside, where a window reflects the sky, light shapes our intimate perception of the home. This work invites the public to enter a space where light seeps in, sneaks through, invades, and reflects. In this way, the artist transitions from object to place, continuing their sensitive exploration of light and our relationship with everyday spaces.

Back on the cultural trail

Since 2023, Valéry Lemay has been developing a trilogy at the Cultural Trail dedicated to light and our relationship with everyday spaces. Each work explores a different aspect of this subtle presence that shapes how we inhabit places: luminous objects, windows and domestic space, and then luminous paintings.
