The Halifax Public Gardens were unveiled in 1867. They are now one of the most beautiful examples of Victorian gardens in North America.

Besides all the different botanical species, we can watch statues, rock bridges, fountains, etc.

The gardens also contain a bandstand where free shows are given to the public every Sunday atfernoon during summer. This aspect is reminiscent of the taste for outdoor musical shows of the Victorian era.

In 2003, the Public Gardens suffered from big damages following the Hurricane Juan. The reconstruction lasted almost a year and needed more than a million dollars.
