The Great Fire of 1846

On Tuesday, August 4, 1846, the town of La Prairie was engulfed in fire. Due to a lack of maintenance, the fire pumps did not work. Only about twenty buildings did not burn.

The Great Fire of 1846

Organizing of a group of volunteer firefighters, purchasing a truck and installing hydrants greatly helped improving fire fighting.
